Wakefield Regional Schools Proposed Plan for a Saturday Academy

As you may know, the five Wakefield area schools (North Forest Pines Elementary, Forest Pines Elementary, Wakefield Elementary, Wakefield Middle, and Wakefield High) held a community summit on September 24 with the purpose of coming together to share with community members testing data and strides that have been made in recent years toward the Board of Education goal.  Additionally, the event culminated with a discussion among participants on ways that we can help one another to see every child succeed and reach his full potential.

On November 4, 2009, the five area schools held a Wakefield Regional Education Task Force to discuss next steps within our school-community partnership to create a comprehensive program with all Wakefield area schools to raise student achievement.

As a result of the collaborative efforts between the five area schools, a plan has been developed to create a Saturday Academy that will provide free tutoring services to approximately 70 students from the area schools. Information regarding the proposed plan can be found here.   We will hold another task force meeting on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 6:00 PM at Wakefield High School.  We need your help in making this program a success.  If you have questions or would like to be a part of the task force, please contact Mr. Crayton at tcrayton@wcpss.net.
