The Newbery Club The Newbery Club
is an after-school book club that meets twice a month to discuss newly published
books. Language Arts teachers
invite interested student readers to join their peers for the purpose of
selecting a “most distinguished” book to be our school’s mock 2007 Newbery
Book winner. Students read books
that: target the interests of
middle grade children, are published during 2006, and are written by American
authors. The Newbery Club meets for
book discussions and to work through the process of choosing a winner for the
year. The winning title is
announced in January, along with the real Newbery winner announcement from the
American Library Association. Last year the Newbery Club’s
“most distinguished book” selection was:
Each Little Bird that Sings by Deborah Wiles. For more information contact: Ms. Lloyd, Mrs. Brown, or Mrs. Craft. |
