WMS
Media Center Services
The Media Center offers a myriad of
services to the WMS community of staff, students, and parents.
The Media Center staff’s purpose is to plan and work
collaboratively with teachers to use appropriate resources that address
curricular needs and learning goals.
Services provided to our patrons include:
instruction in the effective use of the Media Center and its
resources; collaboration and integration of resources and technology with
classroom instruction; promotion of reading and life-long learning through
reader’s advisory, book circulation, and motivational activities; and
communication of copyright and ethical use of all resources.
The WMS Media Center operates on a flexible schedule to offer
access to the Center’s resources, thus accommodating individual and
group needs simultaneously. To
accommodate the ever-changing curriculum needs of various classrooms,
teachers should “sign-up” for Media Center use and staff services.
Teachers
should sign-up for research/curriculum integration, media skills training,
circulation, computer use, and in-class services.
When instruction involves collaboration with Media Center staff,
prior planning must take place (See Collaboration Planning
Form).
